Luck of the Swedish

It's funny how things can just magically appear in your life - like Swedish designer boutique Swensk, who I stumbled upon when trying to avoid the queue at CH2 for MOH. Knowing that I had seen their logo before (in the SOD handbook no less, listed as one of the Look.Stop.Shop installations), I of course went in to have a look and a chat to part-owner Mats. And boy am I glad I did!

Not only stocking the best offerings of Swedish fashion (Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Filippa K, J Lindeberg and WhyRed) Swensk has been set up to introduce and educate the rest of the world about the underlying philosophy of slow design - found in most Swedish labels*.

Plus, they have been involved in an even bigger collaboration with RMIT fashion students, involving some notable names in arts, design and music and fashioning new garments for them, out of existing pieces in their wardrobe. Very cool. (And with Michi Girl personality Chloe Quigley and ex-Lifelounger Daniel Pollock, and lighting master Tim Fleming set to take part next semester...I can't wait to see more from these guys!)
